Contacts

Contacts is a light CRM on top of Apple Contacts: it shows each person with the notes and meetings they appear in, and lets you keep relationship notes, tags and follow-up dates beside them.
Where contacts come from
Contacts (⌃4) shows the people in the Contacts app on your Mac, from every account it syncs: iCloud, Google, Exchange and the rest. MindLake asks for access the first time. It reads and writes that address book directly, so a contact you create or edit here appears in Contacts and on your other devices, and a group you make is a real Contacts group.
The relationship layer (your notes about a person, their tags, follow-up dates and logged interactions) is kept by MindLake on this Mac only. It is not written to your vault and does not sync to your other devices by any route.
Finding people
Show contacts as a list, as cards, or as a table you can edit in place. Sort by name or by date added, and filter to people with an email address, a phone number or a photo, to companies, to people in no group, or to one of your groups. Search (⌘F) matches names. Each row shows a phone number and email address you can click to copy, and a count of the notes the person is in.
From anywhere, ⌘K or the command bar (⌥⌘K) finds a contact by name, organisation or email address and opens their profile.
The profile
Click a contact to open their profile. Under Relationship you can write notes about the person, add tags such as Client or Lead, and turn on Follow up with a date and an optional repeat: every week, 2 weeks, month or quarter. Logging an interaction moves the follow-up date on by the repeat. Below come their groups and their contact details, which you edit and save back to Apple Contacts.
History of notes and meetings
History lists your time with a person, newest first. It includes every note that has them as a person (type @ in a note and pick them from the suggestions, or they arrive as a meeting’s attendee) and every recording where their voice is linked to this contact. Click an entry to open its note. Use Log to add a meeting, call, email or message by hand.
MindLake also spots notes that mention a contact’s name without tagging them. Those contacts are highlighted in the list, and their profile shows Mentioned in notes: tag each note from there, or all of them at once with Tag all. Organise has a Link people job that finds the same thing in meeting notes.
People from your meetings
Meeting notes collect names: calendar attendees, people you tagged, speakers you named. The people button in the header, with its count, lists the ones who are not contacts yet, with how many notes each is in and when they were last in one. Email addresses come from your calendar invitations when MindLake can read your calendar. Click Add to create the contact, or Not a contact to stop suggesting that name.
Groups, bulk edits and duplicates
⌘-click or ⇧-click to select several contacts, then edit their organisation, job title and department together, add them to a group, or delete them (⌫). The duplicates button finds contacts that share a name, email address or phone number and merges each set into one contact with all their details. Merging and deleting change Apple Contacts and cannot be undone.
Contacts elsewhere in MindLake
- The menu bar panel has a Contacts tab with a search field and a card for each person, with buttons to call, message on WhatsApp or copy a detail.
- The AI chat can read your contacts only if you turn on Let it read your contacts in Settings ▸ AI ▸ Advanced. It is off by default, and nothing is written back to your address book.
